Xavier strikes winner for HAL

BANGALORE, May 5: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited stayed in contention for a berth to the National Football League, but barely. The local side rode on a lone, second session goal from Xavier Vijaykumar to hand Vasco defeat in the final phase of the Second Division National Football championship.
Patchy at best, HAL nevertheless, succeeded in putting to bag the three points they desperately needed.They now need to beat SBT in the final round, but could still fail to garner a ticket to the NFL as they need some of the other matches to go their way.
HAL would need Army XI to lose to Vasco in their final round match, but that seems highly unlikely given Vasco's massive slump in form.
